Unit Trust and the Final Bahrain Trip

Out of some idleness this late afternoon, I had done some calculation on my newly purchased Unit Trust funds. I have concluded that I need 0.0003 increase on the closing prices for every 5 days. I'm not certain if it should be based on working days. If so then, I would need a increase of 0.000845 for every 10 working days. That will only generate 3.7% of returns which will be on par with the one year conservative FD returns. I hope that's easily achievable.

-

The catch which I realised not accounting for the risk involved, would be the duration. To break even with the initial investment amount, I shall need roughly 150 working days assuming the increase rate as stated above is achievable.

-

On a different note, my final trip to Bahrain has been delayed from 9th of February to the 22nd of February and now to the targeted date of 28th of February. In any case, I shall be back in Malaysia by 10th of March as that's my last working day for this company. I'm not obliged to perform any other work or duty beyond that.

Murphy law

What was not accomplished yesterday was successfully achieved by my second brother. That's according to my mom. Yesterday around midnight, my brother wrecked the car again by kissing the butt of some lalachai's car from Kajang. Again, that's the description according to my mom as I didn't went out that night to survey the accident. All in all, this is the fourth time my two brothers were involved with traffic accidents that includes third party damage. With the ratio of number-of-accidents (4) / number-of-times-they-drive (which is not much considering a blanket ban from my mom), it's seriously worrying. To my disgust, my mom actually suggested of selling the Wira off for an Atos.

Rude awakening

Was driving at Tasik Selatan heading to work this morning. Of a sudden, the Vios in front of me and the cars in front, I presume, was breaking hard. I then applied the brakes and the next thing I know, I'm on this screeching slide as the brake jams. The hazards were on and we stopped at the side of the road. The Vios driver, a middle age fellow came out looking at his rear bumper with his mouth agape. Then he looked at me nodding his head. I guess he was saying okay. His car was fine anyway. And we went back to our cars and to our own workplaces. After I parked my car at my office, I did a quick inspection and found some of the Vios's paint on mine as a souvenir.

A day in TPM

After nearly 16 months working abroad with interim short holidays, today's my first day actually reporting back to work in my office in TPM. I actually managed to wakeup at 6.30 AM. I woke up at that ungodly hour eventhough I'm no rubber tapper with the intention to get a parking space. I even had time to go round my neighbourhood and bought some nasi lemak for breakfast and brought it for consumption at the company's cafeteria.

The whole day feels strange yet disturbingly familiar. Most of my colleagues are now replaced with new staffs which I hardly know any. My blue jacket is still hung on the chair after 1.5 years gathering dust. The slow pace which is a welcomed change after getting used to the restless days abroad, although boredom manages to seep in after awhile. I guess nothing's ideal.

As the day ends, I had only spent 9.5 hours in office which is joy and wonder, but somewhat unusual when the norm for me had been 14 hours a day. At the same time, the take home pay for the day also is laughable.

a great CNY

How has your Chinese New Year been? For me, it was great and memorable. I think this year would be the year that I've had the most gatherings and meet ups with friends so far. With some of which I have not seen for quite some years. It hits me then, that everyone has been really busy working and chasing after their dreams. Life's no hunky dory for all times. That applies to everybody. But for the past many days, it's great when your acquaintances get a break and are able to group together to catch up, celebrate and share the moment with each other.

Now it's time again to resume to our busy life. Nevertheless, there's always the next CNY to look forward to.
